FAQs

What kind of clients do you work with?

We work with research and academic institutions, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, non-profit organizations and patient advocacy groups, medical communications agencies, and healthcare associations, among others.

We have written for health care professionals, industry professionals, pharmaceutical sales representatives, and a public audience.

How does it work?

We typically have a 1:1 virtual meeting (30 min) to familiarize ourselves with prospective clients and get a better idea of the complexity and duration of the project.

Some questions we might ask are:

  • How much work (if any) has already been done?

  • Is a literature review required?

  • What kind of services are needed (i.e., writing, editing, and/or illustration)?

  • What is the overarching message you are trying to communicate?

  • What type of deliverable do you need?

  • Who is the intended audience?

  • When is the due date?

If we decide that we're a good fit, we'll request to see the starting material (e.g., drafts, templates, research, etc.) and/or previous samples to accurately estimate services. We can sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), if necessary.

We'll get to work as soon as the estimate is approved and if we have any questions regarding the project, we will reach out.

We deliver documents with tracked changes, constructive comments, complete bibliography and/or folders containing high-quality illustrations.

Unless agreed upon otherwise at the beginning of the contract, services include ONE round of minor revisions. Extra fees apply for additional revisions.

What are your rates?

Rates will vary according to the scope and type of project. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.

P.S. We offer discounts for bundle services!

Can we meet during the process?

If you need status updates, or have any questions/concerns throughout the project, please reach out via email or on LinkedIn at any time, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

If there are major changes to the project that are too complex to describe by email, please request a virtual 1:1 meeting.

How many drafts are included when editing scientific manuscripts?

One round of minor revisions and/or follow-up questions are included with our basic editing services. The questions can be included as comments in the document, sent via email, or discussed via phone or video conference. Subsequent drafts will incur additional costs, unless agreed upon otherwise.

Can you guarantee my manuscript will be published?

The acceptance of a manuscript for publication is largely the subjective decision of the journal editors. While we aid to prepare the best manuscript possible given the submitted material, contracting professional editing and/or writing services does not guarantee publication.

Editing is a process of offering advice and suggestions. We will make every effort to identify and bring questionable material to your attention, but you are responsible for accepting (or rejecting) suggestions and resolving any issues (e.g., suspected plagiarism).

As of November 2023, 80% of the manuscripts we edited between June 2022 and April 2023 were published in Q1 journals. The remaining 20% were considered out of scope for the journal they were originally sent to and were resubmitted to another journal.
